CONSIDER THE SUBJECT CHOICES, EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS, PERSONAL AND PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES THAT YOU HAVE EXPLAINED- DO YOU YOURSELF HAVE THESE? IF NOT, HOW ILL/ COULD YOU DEVELOP THEM?
The subject choices that I have made and will make will really help me in the future with the career that I want to have (music teaching/ teaching). I have chosen music and stage 1 Italian for a whole year because I enjoy them and they will assist me in the future. It is pretty obvious how music will assist me in the future and what it will do for me, but Italian has the same sort of purpose. In music a lot of the expressions and symbols are in Italian so if I am good at Italian then the symbols will be easy for me and I could be a head of everyone else. In year twelve, I am hoping to do a science subject and two music subjects because that is what I am passionate about- I also want to be a science teacher because everything in science is so interesting and engaging (there is so much to be discovered). When I am older I am going to travel to Italy and if I get good enough at Italian then I could possibly go over there and live- maybe even teach there as a music or English teacher which would be a very exciting experience!
I believe that I almost have all of the employability skills; I believe that I need to work on some of them a little more though because there can always be room for improvement. Goals that could be set are as following: I could build on confidence by joining into a debating or public speaking team. This would help me develop my public speaking skills and in front of audiences no matter who they were. If I did this then it would mean that I would be confident teaching and talking to people every where.
Encouragement is a key skill needed to be a teacher. Teachers need to be encouraging to their students so bring their confidence levels up with what they do because students these days tend to talk themselves down. If you have no hope in a certain student then they normally won't listen to what you have to say and they would also not encourage you to be the best teacher that you can be. If you are a very happy and encouraging person then the students will enjoy the lesson better and want to try harder is they see you trying your very best. Ways that I can improve on my encouraging skills is by building up my friends and peers confidence so that they have confidence in themselves, and by doing this then it enables me to encourage others.
I myself have developed most of these skills through previous years PLP and other well being subjects but I have never gone this in depth with what I have been talking about. I think that by goal setting I can take these skills to a whole new level and I can take the skills to a whole new level by doing the things mentioned above.

what is your personal learning style? how does it compliment this career choice? what areas need development and how will/ could you do this?
My personal learning style is analyser supporter. When it came up with suggested careers it came up with music teaching which I was quite pleased about because that's what I wanted to be. Having done previous tests I have found that I am a perfectionist and this can also affect my career choice dramatically. Some traits that compliment this career choice are as following:
Complements to the career choice were just mentioned above.
I need to lower my standards of myself and others; I have to be realistic when setting the bar for myself. I will have to compromise and find some standards some where in the middle. I can do this by:
If I were to become a music teacher, it is not all about being accurate and the end results. It is also about the working out behind the main question/ answer- it is also about the time and effort that the student put in. A way to overcome this is just by practicing the skill and being conscience about it not just forget about it.
Being even- tempered is a very important skill but I also find it one of my weakness'. Being even- tempered is a very hard thing to do, especially if you are having a bad day or you are really tired- you don't really want students pushing you around, taking advantage of you- You would have to be firm but kind to the students no matter what the circumstance.
- Good at maintaining focus.
- Making others feel important.
- Being even- tempered.
- Thinking logically.
- Constantly checking for accuracy.
- Patience.
- Hard- working.
- Good at avoiding conflict.
- Good listeners.
- High standards.
- Organised

- Taking notice in what other peoples standards are and what they are achieving (it should just naturally develop over the years, just like many other skills).

- To be a teacher, you need to treat everyone equally, no matter what they are doing or saying- you have to have the same respect for them as you would for any other student or teacher. I could practice doing this with my peers and just try to be nice to everyone (although at times it can be quite a challenge- I will try to stick to it). I just need to treat every one as equals no matter what my feelings are towards them because today in our society no one is really treated equally.
comment about yourself and why you think you are suitable for this type of career (reflection).
I think that I am suitable for this type of career because I have a love of working with younger people and I also have a massive passion for music; when you put two and two together it is the perfect career for me- music teaching. Over the years, I have been inspired by my music teacher from Marymount College (Mr. McDonald) and I really wanted to do something like him- he was a big inspiration. It was not only until around the middle of year eight that I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I think that I would be a good person for the career because I am very passionate about music and when a teacher is passionate about something it normally rubs off onto the students and makes them passionate about what they do and this is what I hope to do for many students- It would be an honor to be able to get them involved in music and see what it can mean to people (hopefully even help the students find their own meaning of music for themselves). I would also be good for the career because most of the skills that were mentioned I had and that will make things easier for me when/ if I become a music teacher.
